The beauty of a landscape can disclose itself in a bird’s-eye view, or through close observation of details. Anja Schubert’s wall-mounted objects revel in a tension between distance and depth. Following vivid linear movements, they explore a microcosm of structures and pictorial events, resembling aerial photographs as much as views through a microscope.
Reserved and calm in their artistic discipline, these objects ask to be explored again and again, always offering surprising new discoveries.
The starting point for each object is a chased copper mould enriched with different materials. It determines the relief and shade of the plaster cast, which is then further elaborated.
Large-scale Diasec® prints made from high-resolution 3D scans reveal the richness of texture present in the smallest detail of each piece.
